Money Request Feature of the BHIM, Paytm, Phonepe and Google Pay

No need to ask for money from your friends. Just send a humble money request through your UPI App and get the instant credit into your account. It is not only a safe way but also the hassle free method to get money.

You send a request to your friend and your friend receives a notification in his UPI app. He has to only approve this request. Subsequently money deducts from his account and gets credited to your account, instantly. Is not this UPI feature fascinating?

In this article, I will tell you the method to use the Request feature of the Paytm, Phonepe, Google Pay and BHIM.

1. Request Feature of BHIM UPI App

If you are a BHIM UPI user, you can request money only under a few steps.

Step 1, Open the app. Select Request option.

Step 2, Enter the UPI ID or select the person from your contact. Tap on Verify.

Step 3, Consequently, the app will verify the UPI ID and fetch the payer details. Enter the amount and validity of the request. Also, fill the remarks if you want.

Step 4, Now tap on Request button. That is it. Your request has been sent to the payer.

BHIM UPI app gives you the option to set the validity of the request. But if you do not set yourself, the app will automatically set it. Thus in this situation, the request will remain active for about 10 hours.

2. Request Feature of Paytm App

As Paytm is a UPI enabled app, so you can request money through your Paytm app as well. However, it takes more steps than BHIM UPI. Also, there is no option to set the validity of the request by the user. And it has the validity time only for half an hour. Look at the steps-

Step 1, Open the Paytm app. And at the top, tap on the UPI Money Transfer option.

Step 2, On the next page, tap on More button at the top right corner.

Step 3, Now you are on the Paytm BHIM UPI page. Here select the Request Money option.

Step 4, Enter the UPI ID of the payer and tap on Proceed button.

Step 5, Paytm will show you the details of the payer. Now enter the amount and write the optional message. Select your account and tap on Proceed again.

Step 6, Paytm will ask you once again that you are requesting money from the payer. Tap on confirm button.

And the request goes successfully to the payer’s UPI app.

3. Request money Through the BHIM SBI Pay App

Asia’s largest bank State Bank of India has also its UPI app. It gives you not only the UPI services but also the other facilities. Thus see the steps in the BHIM SBI Pay app to send a money request to your friend.

Step 1, Login the app with the passcode. Now tap on the Collect option.

Step 2, You reach the page where you have to enter the Virtual Payment Address (VPA) of the payer.

Step 3, Now enter the amount and remarks. The remarks are optional.

Step 4, Thus tap on the Initiate Collect button. And the request is successfully sent to the payer. The payer can see the notification in his UPI App.

Step 5– After tapping on the notification, the UPI app of the payer would open. Now the payer would see the requested amount and payee details.

Step 6 – After the verifying the payer can approve or decline the payment. To approve the payment, the payer has to enter the UPI PIN. One UPI PIN is entered the money instantly transfers.

4. Request Feature of PhonePe App

To request money through the PhonePe app, go to the home screen of the app and follow these steps-

Step 1, On the home screen, select the Request option. You will reach on the next page.

Step 2, On this page, enter the VPA or bank account of the payer.

Step 3, Enter the amount you want to get and tap on the Request button. Remember at present you may request up to ₹2000 only from your friend.

Step 4, Just you tap on request, the payer receives the notification in his PhonePe app. Now he has to accept the request only.

5. Request Feature of Google Pay App

Google has its own UPI payment app. This app has a lot of facilities along with the UPI service. Hence, to use the Request feature of the Google Pay app open the app with the 4 digit passcode. Now follow some easy steps-

Step 1, On the home screen of the Google Pay app, tap on New button.

Step 2, Scroll down the contact list. Further, select the contact number from whom you want to get money.

Step 3, Now at the bottom of the next page, tap on Request button.

Step 4, Thus on the next page, enter the amount. Also, enter the message of ‘What’s this for?’ However it is optional. Now press on Request button once again.

Step 5, The request has been sent to your contact.

The payer can see the money request notification in his Google Pay app. When he accepts the request, you will get the money in your account.

Note:- The Google Pay says that it takes up to 3 working days to be reflected money into your account. However, frequently it happens instantly.

6. Request Feature of HDFC PayZapp

In the HDFC PayZapp app, the Request feature is named as Collect feature. In my last article on HDFC PayZapp, I have explained how you can use this feature. But I remind you again in short-

• Tap on Collect icon under the BHIM UPI head
• Enter the VPA of the payer
• Enter the amount
• Select your account
• And tap on Initiate Collect button.
• Thus request goes to the payer.

So above are the main UPI Apps through which you may request money to your friend. Merchants also use this method to collect the money from their customers. It is also used by the e-commerce websites for the payment.
