How To Pay LPG Bill Online Through UPI App

#UPI Chalega is a campaign by NPCI to promote the UPI payment system. NPCI, National Payment Corporation of India is trying to drive up the digital payment system by this campaign. Thus in this sequence, I am here to tell you about the one usage of UPI payment system. I am sharing you my experience with the Online bill payment of Cooking Gas LPG through UPI.

Cooking gas (LPG) is the most essential part of our daily life. So if you can pay the bill through UPI, it will be the best relaxation for you and your family members when you are not at home. So let us start-

1. Select the UPI Payment Option for LPG Bill Payment Online

After booking of the LPG through the IVRS or by SMS, you receive a message from the service provider. In this message, there is a link of the payment of the gas bill online in advance. Also, you get an email if you have registered your mail Id with the provider. Thus tap on the link and you will reach to the payment page.

Here select the UPI option among other payment options. Then you can see a few UPI enabled apps options.

If you have registered with any of them, select the one. Otherwise, tap on Other UPI button.

2. Enter the UPI ID

If you select the Other UPI button, you have to enter your UPI ID i.e. VPA. This UPI ID you have already created in the app which you are using.

Or if you select any option among Paytm or BHIM or Phonepe etc, then two blocks will open. The first block says to enter your UPI ID and the second will be already filled by the system.

In the second block, you can see the suffix of your UPI ID which indicates the UPI app. For example, I have selected the BHIM UPI so it shows @upi. Thus enter your UPI ID and tap on Make Payment.

3. Payment Request Goes to the UPI App

Just tapping on Make Payment button a message displays on your screen. It is from the payment network of the service provider. It shows that a request has been sent to your UPI App. Thus it requests you to accept the payment request through your App.

4. Shift the Request of LPG UPI Payment

Here I want to tell you one important thing. If you do not want to use your UPI App to pay for any reason, then you can shift the request to your friend. For this, you would have to enter the UPI ID of your friend in spite of yours.

Then the request goes to the UPI App of your friend and not in your app. So, your friend needs to approve the payment request in his UPI app. When your friend approves the request and makes the payment, the money deducts from his bank account.

However, you receive the confirmation message from the service provider of successful payment.

But to proceed with the above process, you would have to tell your friend that you want to use his UPI ID. Otherwise, he might decline the request and the transaction will be failed.

5. Accept the Request

Now again come to our third point. I imagine that you want to use your UPI ID. Thus you will receive a request in your UPI App. There are two methods to accept the payment request.

• You receive a notification from your UPI app. Therefore, you can tap on the notification to direct access to your UPI app.
• Or get down the screen. Open the app with the passcode.

Here at the home screen of the app, you can see the request received. Now tap on ‘Approve To Pay’.

6. Make Payment

In the next page, you can see the Pending Request to pay the gas bill. Here you can see the Completed Requests as well.

Check the details. Tap on Approve button. Now confirm before payment of the bill. On the next page, you can see the payee’s details along with the amount to pay and the last four digits of your linked bank account.

Tap on Pay button. And you reach the UPI PIN page. Enter the 4 or 6 digit UPI PIN. Press on OK. Thus, your payment is completed.

You will receive the confirmation details at your screen. Here you can see the Transaction ID, date and time of the transaction. Moreover, you receive the confirmation message from service provider.

Also, you receive the notification from the UPI App for the debit of amount from your account.

Thus you can see how the LPG bill payment is quick and easy through UPI.
