2. Insert the Card

Before the launching of EMV Chip ATM cards, there was only one option i.e. swiping of the Card. But now the new cards used to insert into the POS machine by the shopkeeper. These are Chip based ATM cards.

3. New Way- Wave the ATM Card At the POS Screen

Now there is a new and third type of usage of ATM card for payment. Some POS machine issuers are issuing a different type of machine. Also, the cards are with a special feature.

In this POS machine, you have to wave your ATM card at the screen. The machine reads the card and displays the information. Then you have to proceed with the same process for the payment.

Online Shopping Through the ATM Card

Your ATM Card is not for only offline shopping but you may use it for online shopping as well. This feature makes your card very useful.

In online shopping, you do not need to carry your ATM card always. Though you would have to remember the card details. But if you save your card details in the shopping website, then in this case even no need to remember the details. However, there will be a requirement of the mobile number linked with the card.

Here I want to tell you one thing, some shopping websites save your card details. On the other hand, some ask you to save the details or not. So, you have options to allow to save the card details on the website or not.

You can shop online through the Company’s website directly. Or you may shop through the shopping websites like Paytm Mall, Flipkart or Amazon etc. Here I am taking an example of online shopping through the ATM card in Amazon website.

Step 1

Login the Amazon app or website with your User Id and Password. Input the product name into the Search Box which you want to buy.

Step 2

View the full details of the product by tapping on a particular product. View the price details and select the quantity.

Tap on Buy Now or Add to Cart button. You reach on the Payment options page.

Here select the Add Debit/ Credit/ ATM Card option. And click on Continue.

In the next page, input your name as in your card along with the Debit/ ATM card number.

Further, enter the expiry date of the card and CVV number.

Tap on Add your Card. Remember, Amazon saves your card details automatically. As without saving the details, you can not proceed further. But you can remove the card details later as well.

Now your card details are saved. You can see it on the next screen. Enter CVV again and click on Continue.

Select your Shipping Address. Or if you want the product in a new address, click on Add a New Address.

Step 8

Now tap on ‘Place Your Order and Pay’ button at the bottom of the page. Just you get an OTP (One Time Password) in your linked mobile number with the ATM cum Debit card.

Step 9

Enter the OTP received to authenticate the payment. Here you can see the transaction amount, few digits of ATM card number and mobile number.

Now tap on Make Payment.

Thus you have completed the transaction and shopping both. Moreover, you receive a confirmation message on your screen and in your message inbox as well.
