IMPS is an instant money transfer service. You can transfer funds to any bank account using this service. Before IMPS, We mostly used the NEFT for money transfer. However, it is not an immediate money transfer service and available only on working days.
Hence, the NPCI launched IMPS to make money transfers easy and fast. This service is based on the mobile number of the account holder. With IMPS, you don’t need to visit your bank branch to send money to your friend, family member or anyone. Because it allows you to make instant interbank transfers using just your phone or ATM. You only need to register for mobile banking to use IMPS. This service is really too fast and easy. Even after the launch of UPI , the IMPS is still a good solution for money transfers.

IMPS is undoubtedly the faster money transfer and payment service than NEFT. One of the best things of IMPS is its 24X7 availability. No matter it is the weekend or any other holiday. IMPS works on any given day and at any time. Whereas NEFT and RTGS have a time window for settlement.
Being instant is another quality of IMPS. The transactions in NEFT are settled on the half hourly basis. But, the payments using IMPS are settled instantly. Also, as I have already told you that you don’t need to visit your bank to make these payments. IMPS gives you ease of transferring money from anywhere anytime and to anyone. No matter you are travelling or just cannot go to your branch for some reason. You can even send money instantly to your loved ones when they need with IMPS.

The first step of security is your mobile number and second is MMID. You get the MMID when you register for mobile banking at your bank branch.
The IMPS is not depended on a single channel. You can access its services using your mobile phone, an ATM and internet banking. It does not limit you to use any single channel to enjoy its services.
