By Chandrakant Mishra | Published On January 19, 2020

SBI the largest bank of India gives the facility to its customers to generate and change the ATM PIN of ATM cum Debit card. This facility is best known as Green PIN facility of SBI. If you are a new customer or applying for a new card, you can generate the ATM PIN yourself.

What is ATM PIN?

Earlier the banks used to provide the ATM PIN with the card itself. But now for the security purpose customers are allowed to generate it. As you know the ATM PIN is a unique 4 digit code. This PIN is required to process the online and POS transactions as well as withdrawals through the ATM Machine.

  1. Through the ATM Machine
  2. SMS
  3. IVRS i.e. Customer Care

Step 1, Through your registered mobile number, send an SMS to 567676. The format of the SMS will be PIN<space>CCCC<space>AAAA. Where-

  1. CCCC is the last four digit of the card number.
  2. AAAA is the last four digit of the SBI account number.

For example, if the last 4 digits of the card are 1234 and last 4 digits of the account number are 5678. Then the SMS will be PIN 1234 5678

Step 2, As you send the SMS, you get a message containing OTP. Again, this OTP is valid for 2 days.

Step 3, Now visit the ATM machine and select the Banking>PIN Change option. Use OTP.

Besides the above methods, you can generate ATM PIN through the Net Banking as well. This is the only procedure in which you are not required to go to the ATM machine. Moreover, your pin will be generated by you and the bank jointly.

For this, you have to use your Net Banking Password. Or you may use the SBI YONO App. Thus follow these steps-

Step 1

Login to the website of the SBI, www.onlinesbi.com with your user ID and Password.

Step 2

From the main menu, select the ‘e-Services’ tab. Then select the ‘ATM Card Services’.

Step 3

Now on the ATM Card Services page select the option ‘ATM PIN Generation’.

Step 4

For the authentication select, ‘Using One Time Password’. Alternatively, you may select ‘Using Profile Password’. But if you have not a profile password, then select the OTP option.

Step 5

If you choose OTP option, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Enter this OTP in the appropriate place. Then select the Submit button.

Step 6

Now select the account number. Then you can see the active debit cards linked with your account. Select the one for which you wish to create the PIN.

Step 7

Now you are on ATM PIN Generation page. Enter the two digits of the PIN as per your choice. Then click on Submit. Remember these two digits will be the first two digits of your new PIN.

Step 8

Instantly you receive an SMS on your mobile containing two digits. These will be the last two digits of your PIN.

Step 9

Hence on the next page, enter the first two digits which you have selected. Then last two digits you received on your mobile. This is your ATM PIN. Click on Submit. Now your ATM PIN is generated.

Thus you can see net banking is a little longer procedure. But it helps to generate the ATM PIN hassle free at your home.
