BHIM UPI Login and Sign up: Step By Step Guide

BHIM UPI app login and sign up is quite easy. You can start using BHIM app within five minutes. In fact, it is as simple as a ‘payment app’ can be. Do you still fear mobile payments and digital transactions? Then why not talk to a person who has used the BHIM app. I am sure that you would get a positive response. So, keep your apprehension aside and try the BHIM app. If you are concerned about the security of your bank balance, link that very account which has a little balance. I hope, now you want to learn about the BHIM sign up and login. But before going into the step by step guide, let me introduce you about the BHIM app

What is BHIM app

BHIM is a money transfer platform based on UPI. It transfer’s money from one account to another account instantly, anytime. It uses your bank account linked mobile number for authentication. Further, It also requires UPI PIN (also called as MPIN), to complete fund transfer. This system of payment works only through the mobile, be it a smartphone or feature phone. However, it is easier through the smartphone. For the smartphone, there is a BHIM app, whereas for feature phone you have to use to use the *99# banking.

The BHIM has become so much popular that it is now synonymous with mobile fund transfer. Even it has eclipsed the parent UPI. The BHIM app is prepared by the NPCI. It is a government backed organization. The NPCI provides the system of instant money transfer to BHIM, UPI and IMPS. As of now, there is no charge for the BHIM transactions.

What Can You Do after BHIM Login

You can perform various tasks after login BHIM app. I have listed these tasks below.

Send money instantly

Using BHIM, you can send money to any bank account in India. The only condition for such money transfer is the mobile number registered with the bank. You can trasnfer money through the BHIM, if the recepient has not given mobile number to the bank. BHIM works 24×7 all 365 days.

Ask Money from Someone

BHIM gives you the facility to ask money from someone. You are not required to call or message to get money, rather BHIM notification would do the job. The notified person can instantly approve the payment only by entering his/her UPI PIN.

Pay to a merchant

Cashless payment to a merchant has also become very easy. You have to just scan the QR code of the merchant. Enter the money and send it the merchant. The merchant would instantly get the notification.

Check Account Balance

The BHIM app also gives you the facility to check account balance. You can check the balance of various accounts through one BHIM app. To check account balance, you must register the bank account number and know the UPI PIN as well.

BHIM App Requirements

The BHIM app is very simple and people are loving it. However, you have to fulfill the certain requirements to use it. Don’t worry, these are easy. Before you register on the app, please ensure the following:

  1. You have a valid Debit Card for your account
  2. Mobile Number is linked to your Account
  3. Your registered mobile no. is present in the same device as the BHIM app
  4. You have registered your account for Internet/Mobile Banking

Step by Step Guide to Use BHIM app

To use BHIM app for above tasks, you have to go through following steps.

The first step should be the BHIM app download. The app is available for Android as well as iPhone. Thus most of the users would be able to download it. The BHIM app is not available for windows. The android user can get it from the Google Play Store. While it is available in App store for iPhone users.

Install the app and open it. Choose the preferred language, BHIM app is available in 13 languages. Read the given instruction. Give permission to make and manage calls, read SMS and know the location.

Now it would ask to verify the mobile number. If there are two SIM, choose the one which is registered in your bank account. The app would verify the number.

Now you have to set PIN, to open BHIM app. Remember this PIN as it would be required whenever you open the app. The app gets locked if you remain inactive for more than 30 seconds. This PIN is required again and again. It is a 4 digit PIN, so easy to remember. With this your sign up completes.

After BHIM app login, your first task should be the adding bank account. You can add any of the banks which have the same registered mobile number. However, at a time, you can link only one account to the BHIM app.

Add a Bank Account

To add a bank account, you have to choose the bank among the list of banks. As you are accessing bank through the mobile number, the bank’s server instantly connects your bank account with the BHIM app. Similarly, you can add more bank account with BHIM app. But, note there would be only one default account at a time.

Set UPI PIN

Now set UPI PIN for the account. The UPI PIN is required to make a transaction. It is the same MPIN so if you have already a MPIN, you can use that. However, you can reset new UPI PIN anytime. To set a UPI PIN you have to enter last six digits of the debit card and validity date in MM/YY format.

Enter the desired PIN twice and confirm it.

Send Money

Now you can send money through BHIM to anyone instantly. There is no need to register the beneficiary. You can send money by using UPI ID or VPA, mobile number, Aadhaar number, or account number.

Collect money

You can also ask money from anyone who is BHIM user. You have to give the mobile number or UPI ID of the person. You can also choose the person from your contact.

Scan And Pay

This Feature is used to pay at merchants shop. A BHIM user can generate a QR code to receive money. One can also print this QR code and paste it on the counter. The person who has to pay money scans that QR code and enter the amount. The BHIM app would ask UPI PIN to authorize the payment. Thus payment gets completed.

Balance Check

You can also check the balance of your bank account through the BHIM. Just go to the bank accounts section and click on the balance check. You have to enter the UPI PIN for this task as well.
